What to Expect

Our Sunday worship service is a time for spiritual rest, where you will hear God’s word and its application in your life. It is a time to hear God’s promises and to receive forgiveness of sins, which Jesus won for all people. Each Christian church has their own unique way of worshiping. Below are answers to some questions you may be wondering about our service.

Regular Worship Schedule: Worship at 8:30 & 11:00 am, Bible Class and Sunday School at 9:45 am

When is your Worship Service?

September through May we have two worship services: 8:30 am and 11:00 am. The 8:30 Worship service is livestreamed. In between the two Worship services we have Adult Bible Class and Sunday School from 9:45 to 10:45 am.

In the summer (Memorial Day – Labor Day), we have one Worship service at 10:00 am; Bible Class is at 9:15 am.

How long is a Worship service?

Our Worship service is about one hour in length.

Where do children go during Worship?

We love having kids in church! We believe that worshipping together as a family is important for both parents and children. Pastor Jenkins prepares a special children’s sermon each Sunday. But we know that an hour-long sit can be hard for little ones. If you do wish to step out of the service with your child, there is a toddler room you may use that is full of books, toys, and a TV that broadcasts the service. Changing tables can be found in the bathroom next to the church entrance and the bathroom near the back class room.

Our Sunday School program runs September through May; children learn Bible Stories, songs, and memory verses, make crafts and have snacks. During the same hour adults and teens meet for an in-depth and relevant Bible Study led by Pastor Jenkins.

What should I wear?

Please wear what you feel comfortable in. For some people this is jeans and a t-shirt, for others it is a suit and tie. Whether you like getting dressed up or not, it is what you are receiving from God’s word that counts.

What is your Worship style like?

Our service follows a liturgy. This means that there is an order to our service that we follow from week to week, but the content changes based on the scripture readings and sermon theme. Everything is printed out in our service bulletin for you to follow, and a general outline of our service is listed below. We promise you will not be asked to stand up to introduce yourself, pressured to join, or singled out in any way.

Do you celebrate Communion?

We celebrate the Lord’s Supper (Communion) on the first, third, and fourth Sundays of the month. It is a wonderful gift from our gracious God. In his Word, God teaches that Christians need a proper understanding of the Lord’s Supper before receiving it (1 Corinthians 11:27-29). He also tells us that Christians should be completely united before communing together (1 Corinthians 10:17). Therefore, we ask that only members of our fellowship (The Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod and, worldwide, The Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Conference) commune at Trinity.

We do want everyone to commune with us. So that everything may be done decently and in good order (1 Corinthians 14:40), we ask for the opportunity to verify that we are united in our beliefs based on God’s Word, and then to celebrate that unity publicly in the Sacrament. What happens after the service?

For those who choose to stay there is time for fellowship. If you are new, we’d love to meet you! Coffee, soft drinks, and light snacks are provided. Kids can enjoy the playground in the back. Adult and Teen Bible Class and Sunday School are offered September through May at 9:45 am and meet for about an hour.

Getting Here

We are located at 12345 Cotton Mill Drive, Woodbridge, VA. There is plenty of parking in our lot and free parking along the street.

Worship Service Outline

As you enter the building the sanctuary is located to your left. The service bulletins will be laid out on a table just before you enter the sanctuary and an usher will be there to greet you.
