The Season of Pentecost

After reliving the great events of the life of Christ, the worshiping Church spends half a year focusing on the teachings of Christ. The Church wears green during the season of Pentecost as the Spirit uses those teachings of Jesus to grow the faith of believers. The appointed lessons teach us the characteristics of the Holy Ministry, the Christian, the Church, and our God. Our worship follows this pattern:

The Holy Ministry

  • The Holy Ministry is filled with people who God called out of his boundless mercy (June 29)
  • The Holy Ministry is given by God out of compassion for his people (July 6)
  • The Holy Ministry preaches in spite of persecution (July 13)

The Christian

  • The Christian loves God above all things (July 20)
  • The Christian finds rest in Jesus (July 27)
  • The Christian is planted by the Word (August 3)
  • The Christian lives as wheat among the weeds (August 10)
  • The Christian seeks spiritual wealth (August 17)
  • The Christian trusts God to provide (August 24)
  • The Christian answers doubt with faith (August 31)

The Church

  • The Church is meant for all people (Sept 7)
  • The Church will stand forever (Sept 14)
  • The Church is militant: first the cross, then the crown (Sept 21)
